Research Interests:
Paroxysmal supraventricular arrhythmias are common abnormalities of the heart in which patients experience sudden and seemingly unpredictable changes in the cardiac rhythm. Stochastic process models describing the recurrent behavior of these arrhythmias have important applications in the design and analysis of clinical trials evaluating the efficacy of antiarrhythmic drugs and implantable defibrillators. Of particular interest at the present time is the development of mixture models which more accurately describe the distribution of first-recurrence times in groups of patients and the development of model-specific analytic techniques which can be used to evaluate treatment effects in the context of randomized clinical trials.
