Abstract: The primary aim of this seminar is to introduce do-calculus and its applications. Do-calculus is a non-parametric framework for causal inference of observational data, in which graphical models (e.g. DAGs) are queried to generate probabilistic expressions for causal effects in terms of the observed data. More generally, the purpose of do-calculus is to describe the mathematical conditions under which we can make inferences about causal relationships from a set of data. The seminar will discuss its applications to both observational studies and randomized experiments.
