We work with investigators to assess their project’s collaborative needs and help them identify potential collaborators (biostatisticians, data scientists, qualitative scientists, epidemiologists, etc.) with relevant quantitative and qualitative expertise at Duke and partner institutions.

If we are unable to connect an investigator with an appropriate methodologist, we track this information to help us identify when new resources need to be developed. We work to build appropriate teams to meet unmet collaboration needs.

We build teams of faculty and staff methodologists (biostatisticians, epidemiologists, bioinformaticists, data scientists, etc.) who work with an interdisciplinary network of clinical and translational investigators.

Using a percentage effort model, these teams are embedded in research groups, divisions, departments, centers, and institutes.

BERD methodologists form long-term partnerships with clinical and translational scientists, providing expertise in study design, analysis, implementation of methodology, and interpretation of results.
