MICROBIOME

A host protein called Serum Amyloid A (Saa) is a major factor mediating the effects of the microbiota on the function of immune cells called neutrophils, according to a study by John Rawls and colleagues. Read more

COHORT RESEARCH

Using the Environmental Risk Longitudinal Twin Study, Avshalom Caspi and Terrie Moffitt were part of a team that carried out a comprehensive epidemiological study to evaluate the prevalence, clinical features and risk factors associated with trauma exposure and post-traumatic stress disorder in young adults. Read more

Using the Dunedin Longitudinal study, Avshalom Caspi, Terrie Moffitt and team investigated how parents’ genetics shape their caregiving using tools of molecular genetics. Read more

BOOK CHAPTERS

As part of the Methods in Molecular Biology book series, Jenny Tung and team contributed a chapter about an optimized laboratory protocol for generating RNA “baits” for genome-wide capture of DNA target DNA from a larger pool of DNA. Read more

REVIEWS

Xiling Shen and Anders Dohlman wrote a review on the landscape of existing statistical and experimental methods for detecting and characterizing microbial interactions, as well as the role that host and environmental metabolic signals play in mediating the behavior of these networks. Read more

Lingchong You, along with Ryan Tsoi and Zhoujun Dai wrote a review about key features and design strategies that emerge from analyzing both natural and engineered microbial communities. Read more
