Faculty Susan Halabi, PhD, was recently named a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
Launched in 2007 and formerly called the ASCO Statesman Award, the distinction has been conferred to 282 dedicated volunteers. The FASCO distinction honors members for their extraordinary volunteer service and dedication to ASCO. The award was designed to honor ASCO’s most active volunteer members and to encourage more members to become involved in volunteer activities.
Halabi has published extensively on prognostic and predictive modelling and on the design and analysis of clinical trials. She has also served as principal investigator on several awards. Halabi is a member of the National Cancer Institute Genitourinary Committee Steering Committee and a member of the Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee (ODAC) for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. She is a co-editor of Oncology Clinical Trials: Successful Design, Conduct and Analysis. Halabi is an Associate Editor for Clinical Trials, Statistics in Medicine and Diagnostic and Prognostic Research. She is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association and the Society of Clinical Trials and has served and continues to serve on numerous data safety and monitoring boards and study sections for the National Institutes of Health.
Halabi is the first biostatistician to receive the Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (FASCO) designation. Fellows will be conferred the FASCO status at the opening session of the ASCO Annual Meeting, which takes place this year June 1 through June 5 in Chicago, Illinois. Once conferred, the fellow status is a lifetime recognition.
