After completing his degree in 2019, he transitioned smoothly into the world of clinical trials and data science, where he currently holds the position of Biostatistician II.

Current Role
As a Biostatistician II, Bohui’s responsibilities include developing Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs), creating Table, Listing, and Figure (TLF) shells, and writing specifications for Analysis Data Model (ADaM) and TLF. His day-to-day activities also involve reviewing datasets, managing timelines and budgets, and attending project meetings.

What He Loves About His Job
Bohui is passionate about the variety of therapeutic areas he gets to explore in his work. Beyond that, the real satisfaction comes from knowing that his contributions are helping to improve the lives of patients.

Key Skills Learned at Duke
While reflecting on his time at Duke, Bohui emphasizes how the program's SAS programming courses and statistical methods such as survival analysis, generalized linear models (GLM), and longitudinal analysis have been directly applicable to his current projects.

Challenges in the Workplace
Juggling multiple project deliveries can be difficult, especially when timelines overlap. Bohui has learned that staying organized, multitasking, and maintaining clear communication with sponsors are crucial for overcoming these challenges.

Advice for Job Seekers
Bohui encourages students to start building their professional network early, particularly by looking for referrals. Additionally, having a solid understanding of SAS and clinical trial methodologies is essential for standing out during the job search process.

Life Outside of Work
Bohui adopted a tabby kitten in August 2023 and got married in September 2024.  When he's not working, you’ll find him engaged in working out, playing basketball, soccer, or even a round of poker with friends.

Words of Wisdom for Current MB Students
“Have a clear career goal as early as possible,” Bohui advises. This will allow students to focus on specific research opportunities and internships that align with their career aspirations.
