Duke AI HealthSpeaker:
Large language models (LLM) are powering amazing recent innovations in generative AI such as ChatGPT. Although their capabilities may seem like magic, behind these technologies are concepts that anyone can understand. In this lunch and learn, Larry Carin will provide a math-free, intuitive explanation of how LLMs work. Please join us for an engaging session as Dr. Carin introduces participants to the deep-learning technology that has revolutionized the capacity of machines to perform language translation, to answer questions posed for given text, and to generate (synthesize) text that is near human-generated quality.
The session will be introduced by remarks by Jeff Ferranti, Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer for Duke Health, and Michael Pencina, Vice Dean for Data Science and Director of Duke AI Health. They will discuss the potential for LLMs to improve the lives and clinicians and patients, and how Duke Health is approaching this area of strategic importance.
We will offer in-person seating at the Trent Semens Learning Hall on Duke University's campus, including boxed lunches.
Because we expect this event to fill quickly, registration is required for in-person attendance: https://duke.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7WzysLyV5nVeegK
We will also provide a livestream via Zoom so that participants can listen to the presentation.
