The Duke Master’s of Biostatistics program held its commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2016, celebrating the graduation of 15 students.  By graduation day, this year’s class had already accepted a diverse range of employment, from Biostatistian II jobs at research institutions such as the Duke Clinical Research Institute, to a Data Scientist position at the Lieber Institute for Brain Development, to study in the MD program at the University of Pennsylvania, to PhD study in the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Department at Duke University.

Zinan Chen, the ceremony’s student speaker, and winner of the class-elected Student Leadership Award, noted that she “made memories and friends that will last my life long. I learned and fell in love with a field that I knew nothing about when I first stepped into Hock Plaza [the location of the Biostatistics & Bioinformatics Department]. Now when people mention North Carolina, I will think of people there so close to my heart—and every year at basketball season I will have another team to cheer for besides the University of Kentucky!”
