PhD student, Fan (Frank) Li has been selected to receive one of the student travel awards from the Biometrics Section of the American Statistical Association (ASA). The award recognizes his paper titled “Propensity Score Weighting for Causal Inference with Multiple Treatments.” He was also nominated for a student paper award from the Health Policy Statistics Section of the ASA, but had to decline following the one award policy.
Fan is currently a fifth-year doctoral candidate in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Duke University with a research background in causal inference methods for observational studies and pragmatic trials. He completed the awarded research paper as part of his dissertation under the supervision of Dr. Fan Li, Associate Professor of Statistical Science, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics. As a student travel award winner, Fan will receive a $1000 award to present his paper in the 2019 Joint Statistical Meetings, which will be held in Denver, CO, July 27 – August 1, 2019.
