Biostats Masters Student Jinyi Zhou Receives Poster Award

Second Year Master’s Student Jinyi Zhou recently received the Student Poster Recognition Award for her submission at the 2020 ASA Biopharmaceutical Section Regulatory-Industry Statistics Workshop, held Sept. 22-25. Her poster, “A Comparison of Bayesian Meta-Analysis Methods for Rare Adverse Events” focused on assessing the performance of various Bayesian meta-analysis methods and different prior distributions via extensive simulation studies under settings with different degrees of outcome infrequency, and applying them to two meta-analysis data examples. This is Jinyi’s first poster submission on this project under the supervision of Dr. Hwanhee Hong.

The yearly ASA Biopharmaceutical Section Regulatory-Industry Statistics Workshop is sponsored by the ASA Biopharmaceutical Section in cooperation with the FDA Statistical Association. The workshop was originally organized as a meeting for FDA statisticians but has been expanded to include all statisticians interested in statistical practices for all areas regulated by the FDA. By bringing FDA, industry and academic researchers and speakers the conference is highly important for all statistical practitioners in the biopharmaceutical arena.
