Congratulations to Qiao Wang for Receiving the 2025 JSM Early Career Paper Award!

We are thrilled to announce that Biostatistics Postdoctoral Associate Qiao Wang has been honored with 2025 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) Early Career Paper Award as one of four recipients by the Biometrics Section of the American Statistical Association. This award recognizes her paper titled “Bayesian hierarchical models with calibrated mixtures of g-priors for assessing treatment effect moderation in meta-analysis.”

The paper was submitted under the Biometric Methodology category, focusing on proposing novel statistical methodology addressing a problem relevant to the biosciences. It underwent a rigorous double-blinded review process and was evaluated on its methodological rigor, relevance, practical utility in real-world bioscience applications, clarity of communication, and overall impact including degree of innovation and potential to advance the field.

Qiao is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Duke University School of Medicine. Her research focuses on integrating diverse data sources, such as clinical trial data and observational data, to address critical challenges in bioscience and public health. This award-winning work was developed in collaboration with her postdoctoral mentor, Dr. Hwanhee Hong.

As part of this recognition, Qiao will receive travel support to attend and present her work at JSM 2025 in Nashville, TN. We look forward to seeing her continued contributions and accomplishments in the field of biostatistics.
