Master of Biostatistics Class of 2024

The Duke Master of Biostatistics program was pleased to host a graduation ceremony and celebration on Saturday, May 11, 2024, for 45 students. The event was held in the morning at The University Club in University Tower. Dr. Warren Kibbe, vice chair of the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, and Dr. Steve Grambow, associate chair of education, welcomed the students and their guests. The Directors of Graduate Studies, Dr. Greg Samsa and Dr. Jesse Troy, gave remarks and presented awards.  

Student Leadership Awards were presented to Alexandra Da Silva and Catherine Gervais, who presented addressed graduation speeches.  Alexandra and Catherine were elected as Student Leaders by their classmates. 

Five students were recognized for Overall Academic Achievement: Ryan Butcher, Molly Ehrig, Hui Huang, Alex Thomson, and Danielle Vaithilingam. 

The Most Outstanding Master’s Project Awards were presented to Hui Huang, Qin Weng, Yilong Qu, and Alex Thomson. Honorable Mention awards for Outstanding Master’s Projects went to Catherine Gervais and Caroline Falvey. 

The graduates look forward to either pursuing a PhD or landing positions in top companies across the country.
