PhD Candidate Fan Li Receives 2018 Chancellor's Award

B&B PhD candidate, Fan (Frank) Li, was selected to receive the 2018 Chancellor’s Award for Research Excellence offered by the Duke University School of Medicine. The Chancellor's Award for Research Excellence recognizes senior doctoral students who have excelled in the basic research endeavor, evidenced by an exceptional publication record or a substantial impact on the research trajectory of the lab. This award is highly selective, with no more than four awards to be conferred in any given year.

Fan is currently a fifth-year PhD student in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics. His primary research interests include causal inference methods applied to observational studies and pragmatic cluster randomized trials. He is co-advised by Dr. Andrew Allen and Dr. Fan Li (Department of Statistical Science) for his dissertation research on novel weighting methods for case-control and observational studies. In addition to his dissertation research, he maintained a track record in developing statistical methodology for pragmatic cluster randomized trials, and has authored/co-authored 15 peer-reviewed publications to date. The Chancellor’s Award for Research Excellence recognized Fan’s success in his research mission.
