Biostatistics master’s student Ziye Tian has been awarded the prestigious Junior Investigator Travel Grant by the American Heart Association’s International Stroke Conference (ISC) 2026. This honor recognizes outstanding early-career researchers who are making significant contributions to the field of stroke and cardiovascular health.
Tian’s abstract, “Toward a Deeper Understanding of PREVENT for 10-Year Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Risk: Subgroup Fairness and Predictive Value of Social Determinants of Health,” stood out among numerous submissions for its innovative approach and potential impact on advancing equitable cardiovascular risk prediction, according to ISC.
Tian will receive a $1,000 honorarium and will present her research at ISC 2026 , to be held in February in New Orleans, Louisiana. The meeting brings together an international community of experts dedicated to improving stroke prevention and treatment.
This achievement not only highlights her dedication to scientific excellence but also underscores the importance of integrating social determinants of health into predictive models for better patient outcomes.
