Alumnus Spotlight: Haddon Sandefur, Class of 2023

Haddon Sandefur graduated from Duke’s Master of Biostatistics program in May 2023. He currently works as a Senior Scientist Statistician for Reynolds American in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Emily Poehlein, originally from Northampton, Massachusetts, now resides in Durham, North Carolina. She graduated from Duke University’s Master of Biostatistics (MB) program in 2021, following her undergraduate studies at Vassar College, where she majored in Biology and minored in Math.

Alumnus Spotlight: Bobby Boone, Class of 2021

Bobby Boone, a 2021 graduate of Duke University's Master of Biostatistics (MB) program, grew up in Los Angeles, CA, and currently resides in Salt Lake City, UT. After completing his undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Math at Texas Christian University (TCU), Bobby discovered his passion for the quantitative side of biology during a trout conservation internship. This experience led him to pursue a career in biostatistics, combining his love for biology and data analysis.

Alumnus Spotlight: Bohui (Chris) Zhang, Class of 2019

Bohui Zhang began his academic journey with a background in biology during his undergraduate years before pursuing a Master of Biostatistics at Duke. After completing his degree in 2019, he transitioned smoothly into the world of clinical trials and data science, where he currently holds the position of Biostatistician II.

Alumnus Spotlight: Noah Graham, Class of 2020

Noah Graham, a 2020 graduate of Duke University's Master of Biostatistics (MB) program, has established a dynamic career at the intersection of clinical research and biostatistics. His journey to this point began as an undergraduate Health Science major, where mentorship from a biostatistics professor inspired him to apply for the Summer Institute in Biostatistics (SIBS). His experience at the Colorado Summer Institute in Biostatistics (CoSIBS) ignited his passion for biostatistics, leading him to pursue a minor in mathematics and apply to graduate programs, ultimately landing at Duke.

Marissa Trotta, a 2021 graduate of Duke University's Master of Biostatistics (MB) program, has had an impressive and fulfilling career since earning her degree. Originally from Howell, NJ, Marissa lived in the Washington, DC area for seven years before settling in Hillsborough, NC, where she currently resides.
